Luxury In Chikmagalur | Java Rain Resort

Updated: May 27, 2019

Lush green fields on both the sides of the road infused with the smell of earth. Monsoon road trips are always so special!

What’s your ideal getaway? A long drive, great food, staying inside a jungle, a pool, a couple of friends and a beautiful room?

Java Rain Resort is everything you need for a perfect getaway. You’d pinch yourself in disbelief when you approach their beautiful open reception. It was a cloudy afternoon and they welcomed us with fresh juice and warm perfumed towels. After our 6 hour drive, we loved the sound of Java Rain!

Our suite in Java rain had its own private pool, a spacious living room, and a cozy bedroom. Every aspect of the room interiors was tastefully designed.

What We Loved

The Service

Everyone right from the room service staff to the head chef in JR were so welcoming. They’d go out of their way and made our stay-cation better with their generous smiles. Every time we came back to our suite, our beds were neatly made, rooms cleaned again with a little note left alongside the fun towel art on the bed.  We were looking forward to coming back to our suite to check out what was in store for us!

The Suite

A little surprise in every corner. A private pool, a cozy balcony, complimentary chocolates inside the cupboard and neatly made beds. There was greenery surrounding every side of the room. So spacious! Most of the rooms either has a rain shower, a Jacuzzi or a private pool! How amazing is that?’

The Experience

The infinity pool, the gorgeous rain shower, smell of fresh coffee and some great food. It was an experience of a lifetime. There were corners around the resort where you could just sit with a hot pot of coffee or tea and just spend your time doing nothing. We were fortunate to have the company of a fun couple at the resort with whom we spent an entire evening playing board games in the palatial living room of our suite!

The Panoramic View

There’s something extremely calming about staring at a valley and lush green mountains. You could hear sounds of peacocks calling out to one other. The view from every part of the resort went a long way in giving us the experience it offered. A short walk from our room is a huge tree house where high-tea was served with even better views of the valley. A little birdie told us that they are converting the place to an all day bar. Imagine enjoying a good whiskey sour, some good music and a priceless view of the hills! There was always a view; from our cozy bedroom, from the dining room, from the pool, from the reception. The whole resort is built with that thought and we loved it!

The Food

It was our first meal and the chef walked up to us asking us for our meal preferences promising us the choicest variety of food. For the night’s dinner, he crafted something specially for us, ‘Akki Rotis & Tomato Curry’. The food was out of the world with a wide spread. There was continental food like pizzas, pasta, noodles etc. There were regional items from Chikmagalur and Coorg and then there was the familiar North-Indian and South-Indian. Special mention for the lip smacking rasam! We had it as a second soup with every meal!

The Open Reception.

First impression about Java rain? You drive into an open reception with a stunning view of the hills which looks like a wallpaper 📷 Never have we ever seen a resort which welcomes you with such a great view, a fresh towel and a welcome drink. Special mention to the resort GM Mr. Narendra Babu and his amazing team who made each moment of our stay special

What did we do?

We lazed around, allowed the staff to pamper us, walked amidst coffee plantations, ate some great food. Trekked to Mulluyangiri on a cloudy morning, enjoyed the rains while sipping on hot coffee, played board games, swam in our own private pool and explored viewpoints within the resort which offered some amazing scenery. Sigh! Could we just go back and live there?

How to get there?

It’s a good 5-6 hours drive from Bangalore. Approximately 253 KMs. The drive was beautiful and in our little detour to Halebid, we spotted these happy sunflower fields. There’s something about sunflowers no?

Java rain offered a sense of calmness with an abundance of luxury perfectly brewed with nature. Going there was one of the best decisions we’ve made!
